Holding Space
“It doesn’t matter when you finish, but how you finish… because you probably never finish.” -Odelle
I find it fascinating that we are called the human race. And that is exactly how we live. Or at least some of us. Racing from point A to point B. Only to realise there is no finish line ever. Just the way we crawled, walked or ran the journey.
There are times for each. Crawling, walking and running. And then the in-betweens: trying to get up, falling down, trying again, just sitting, strolling and leaping. To name but a few.
These are the nuances, the subtle ways we make our way through life.
I’ve always had this perhaps, idealistic view: I don’t want to get through something, but be able to be so present and aware, that I want to be in it. All the time. Have I “succeeded?” Hell no. But I hold on to that vision.
Because only when we are truly able to be with and sit in whatever comes our way, are we able to hold space for ourselves and others and really, really experience what that moment holds.
In my own life, people and places have held space for me.
Have you been in spaces where you've felt, held, in spacious awareness?
When we are given the gift of space, we have time to think. Independently. For ourselves. And in that space, find our truth. Our voice. Our gift.
And this is where the magic happens. When your truth is voiced as a gift to others, even when you are not saying a word. Just by being, in presence. Often silence.
Holding Space.
